Do I recommend Colbert? Yes, if you enjoy the gunboat DD play-style, but with a citadel, and more DPM. No, if you don’t enjoy open-water play-style. You can definitely use islands with Colbert, but there are games where you will need to open water to find success.

Having more Insight on your thoughts is good, especially with cruisers that need alot of knowledge of positioning and dodging. Really nice Game . Is this one of your best Colbert Games

I’m grinding the last 20k research bureau pts for either Ohio or Colbert , hard choice… I perfom very well in Bayard ( and i have Georgia) so i’m very tempted to go for Colbert.

@Kalh Remember, the guns on Bayard do pen more than Colbert guns, but indeed both ships are fun!
Colbert is such a good ship to train for Yahagi ! Squishy, fast light cruiser with arcing ballistics !
Sadly Colbert doesnt have Torps, so clearly the inferior choice

I’m waiting for one of these “how I play” videos to start off with you talking about how much fun a ship is and how much you like playing it or how good it is, and then when the game starts you get cross map dev struck from 30km because a cv spots you for 10 seconds during the first minute of the game. If that happens, please, please, please leave it in and just add a 3rd game to the video. 🙂 That would be comedy gold and a good learning point about rng.

She was a museum ship in Bordeaux up until 2007, with a nice restaurant on the foredeck:) It was moored on the quayside and it was a great place to have a coffee and croissant. Unfortunately Bordeaux could not afford the costs of maintaining the ship, 500K Euro just to repaint the ship! The French navy decided to claim the ship back as they wanted parts from the ship to re condition the engines on the Jeanne d’Arc. She was scrapped in 2017, quelle dommage.

Interesting build, although was wondering if taking IFHE to be able to pen cruiser bow and stern at t10 would be useful. Yes your fire chance is halfed but Colbert has the highest fires per min anyway.
Have you tried it with IFHE?
Kills the fire chance and GL hitting bow/stern on a manoeuvring cruiser
IFHE is not worth it, please, it doesn’t give you 27mm of pen, it gives you 26mm, so you can only pen light cruisers, and stalin on top of its icebreaker, you get way more damage from the Fires that you would be losing.

A lot of people seem to forget
I love the idea of playing light cruisers but I feel like I need to learn better throttle control before I can really be effective in them. Obviously everyone talks about using islands effectively but it’s always scary to see just how well they can be used.
I can never hear the construction sounds in the background btw.

Is your Colbert build usable for French light cruisers (like tier 6 and below) ?
Do you think that to perform decently in this ship players should have at least tried ships like Minotaur or Jinan ?
When you mentioned De Grasse at 9:21 the story is complicated, De Grasse was the predecessor to Colbert and is the same one as the one we have in game but it suffered the same fate as the D7P (the premium Dutch tier 8 cruisers) and was finally completed as a proto-Colbert (same main batteries but slightly worst AA)
Finally regarding that Moskva at the end of the 2nd game on twin brothers, well, he can’t overmatch you by a small margin, Goliath on the other hand, definitely can

Don’t use this build for other french light cruisers (152s) because Heavy HE will make your concealment worse.
This ship is harder to play the Minotaur and Jinan due to the lack of smoke screen
