How long Will World of Warships last?

Today were discussing just how long I think world of warships will exist for in the future, we go over things such as the history of world of warships, some of the recent events that have occured in world of warships, and then finally discuss some analytics for world of warships and try to find out whether players are leaving world of warships or more players are coming back to world of warships. So I Hope you enjoy!

World of Warships is a free-to-play naval warfare-themed massively multiplayer online game produced and published by Wargaming, following the earlier games World of Tanks and World of Warplanes. Players can battle others at random or play cooperative battle types against bots or an advanced player versus environment (PvE) battle mode. For the most skilled players, two seasonal competitive modes are available.

World of Warships was originally released for Microsoft Windows and macOS in 2017. The computer version was followed by the iOS mobile game titled World of Warships Blitz in 2018. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console versions, titled World of Warships: Legends, followed in 2019.

  1. So how long do you think world of warships will last?, I think it has a long life ahead of it as long as subs don’t make their way into randoms.

  2. Well WG should listen they playerbase input instead stock holders, and marketing team.
Since playerbase had a money, and WG need it.

I certainly hope the game lasts for a long time. It seems to be getting into its stride at the moment. Really maturing. I think the recent addition and attention to Battecruisers and their more unique niche within the game has actually rejuvenated the game. However i fear that HE spamming cruisers has detracted somewhat from the BB’s, maybe lesson the % chance of fire?. Submarines, without careful implementation will be game breaking however. Without more effective means of countering them (All cruisers carrying depth charges, BB’s with a spotter plane consumable that depth charges nearby subs, CV’s with ASW capability) then it will be sorely detrimental. Submarines should be fragile and have strong countermeasures made against them, forcing submarine players to be very careful about their tactical placement. CV’s themselves need to have no more nerfs done to them. They will become nerfed to irrelevancy otherwise. The position they are at present seems to be the right fit. The introduction of Submarines to random battles will be the crux of this matter, i hope WeeGee handle it efficiently and to the majority of peoples satisfaction. Which means they probably won’t. They will screw the pooch somehow, they almost always never fail to fail initially then later balance out the problems. I hope the game lasts for a few more years yet, but i will say one thing that could break the playerbase and thus the game forever. Wargaming’s greed.

    • I would agree with most things you’ve said, I would even go so far as to say keep submarines in their own game mode because the risk is huge to random battles if they’re introduced to that game mode in their current state.

@TheDarkCalling Thanks Dark. Sorry for trying to express my opinion so voluminously.

  4. Been playing on and off since 2016. Haven’t logged in for a couple of months due to getting a little bored and no plans to return just yet. Would love to see the sea become more organic and natural, as I believe this would be a real game changer for all classes. Also a strong, heavy hitting story, single player, co-op. Maybe World Of Warships 2.

  5. My opinion for what it’s worth mm, WG have become less worried about hiding the churn aspect reducing rewards to pitiful levels, the effort put into game development is very low. A new mantra seems to be, Copy-Nerf-Paste rince and repeat whilst listening to the player base seems an anathema to them. A promise means nothing in business WG embrace this wholeheartedly. On a purely Game level the Lagging thing is an issue and will continue to be, until money is invested.and I can’t see that. Myself I enjoy the game the Art/Graphics are great, the Future? Players will come and go keeping
Players seems a lower priority than a Fast Buck. I’ve stopped getting irate now and just watch the flow of Dire Premiums, the Loot Box Antics and the Pure Anger of the Forum. May the Screaching Furry Ship Girls Be With You 😆😆😆

  6. As a naval history buff, I will continue to play this game unless a better naval strategy game comes out. I am not an ‘arcade’ game player.

  7. Game will easily last 5 more yrs, wargaming has to do a better job with matchmaking so there isn’t as many 6 minute steam rolls, other then that it is still a fun game especially if you like warship history and big guns

  8. The feb-April uptick in players was due to the pandemic. Everyone was bored and looking to play something new. The downturn since may/now is just return to more ‘normal’ levels, with some of those new players being retained. Nothing to do with submarines

    • Yeah I agree, I think I was too hasty to draw conclusions on the analytics. Glad you pointed that out.

  9. As a 3 year veteran of the game, and having served in the military IRL, I can’t play this game anymore due to the Russians being under investigation over having a bounty on US and UK soldiers. Wargaming’s profit would be taxed to pay those bribes. If they are cleared, I may return, but I won’t do business with people out to kill my countrymen, or allies of.

    • It’s okay to play WoWs, but if you do believe in taxes for the bounties then just dont pay. That way you dont fund any bounties. However, the choice is up to you.
