The Tromp is the newest Special (Coal) Tier 10 Dutch Destroyer. It has 6x 150mm guns.

Purchasing Tromp during this initial period will grant a 12-point commander. It will later be available for 238,000 Coal.

I do play this match when I record the video, giving you live commentary and thoughts whilst playing the ship. This is actually a recorded video, and not taken from twitch. 😀

I hope you enjoyed the video, and if did, leave a comment, like or sub. Also, if anyone would like to ask me question about the ship, you can join me on twitch/discord/youtube comments, and if anyone wants to know any of the builds I run for T8, T9 and T10 ships, they are available on discord, link below.

Liar. You’re a liar and you know it. Tromp is the best ship, it has all the best shells. No other ship has better shells, believe me. It has the best shells and the best speed, you wouldn’t believe it. they told me “It’s impossible, it’s too good!” But it is, folks, it is, and you’ll get tired of winning. We’re gonna do so much winning, believe me, you’re gonna get tired of it. You’re gonna say “please, Wargaming, it’s too much! We’re winning so much with Tromp we can’t take it anymore!” But you’re gonna keep winning and it’s gonna be awesome, and we’re gonna build a great torpedo wall, a beautiful wall, with the best torpedoes, and we’re gonna make War Thunder pay for it! And we need the wall, because the enemy team isn’t sending us their best. They’re kill stealers, they’re trolls and some, I believe, may be good players. But we can’t take them. It’s a scam, folks. So we’ll build a torpedo wall, the greatest torpedo wall ever.

  2. having air strikes on a dd with sub 6km detect could be pretty fun. i like that gimmick combo

  3. Malta, I might have to stop watching your vids because I was certain I would skip this DD and now I think I want it. Thx boss.

  4. YourFavoriteLawnGuy

Seriously though, 5.9km detect with air drop attack and 150mm guns?. Sherman, Elbing and a few others would like a word with you WG

  5. this dd and a Gouden Leeuw and a cv in a div could be letal (and against the genva convention), focus a single enemy with constant air strikes

  6. It was planned as flotilla leader, but later (during the war) classification changed to light cruiser due to a political reasons.

  7. But I think the special thing about Tromp is the Air Strike because it does a lot of damage so you could build on air strikes.

  8. Seems more interesting than Iwami, which was the one I was going to get next.

  9. Looks good man, thanks for sharing. 🙂

If this thing had a heal I would likely get it next time I had coal, I love Gouden Leeuw and Dutch airstrikes. But big size, poor maneuverability and speed, no smoke, no heal, no saturation, no armour is a rather miserable combination

  11. I’m sorry. A destroyer with air strikes is counter to the game I think. We are playing a ship game so it’s supposed to be about the guns and in the case of a DD the torps. I never agreed with the airstrike as a gimmick for the Dutch cruisers either. I know how opinions are but this one’s mine.

  12. Just wait till the other Tromp class ship[ makes its apearance , its construction was finished in england had a bit more lets say shoot down aircraft capabilites , a 10 gun anit aircraft cruiser /flotilla leader /destroyer .

    10 x 10,2 cm Mk XVI* in Mk XIX mountings R.P.C.51 (5 x 2)
    4 x 40 mm Vickers Mark 8 (“pompom”) (1×4) ****
    6 x 20 mm Hispano Suiza ** (6×1)
    ** replaced by oerlikons
    **** replaced by bofors .
8 x 40 mm Bofors Mk IV in Mk IV* mounts (4×2)
    8 x 20 mm Oerlikon Mk in Mk V twin mounts (4×2).

The Tromp was layed down as flotilla leader officially , in reality it was a light cruiser flotilla leaders sound cheap, The armour of the original ships was thicker and had layers of armour than its shown in this layout :

    Turrets 25 – 12 mm
    Side belt (amidships) 15 mm
    Longitudinal bulkheads 20 – 30 mm
    Main deck 25 mm
    Lower deck 15 – 25 mm
    Ammunition lifts 15- 25 mm

  13. A destroyer leader is bigger than a destroyer and smaller than a cruiser, love your videos malta keep them coming

  14. At least it seems to be an interesting ship albeit not for any competitive scene. Curious though how they give it great concealment when everything about it is geared for medium to long distance combat

  15. Maltese vids is so baiting. Before I was like “no way anyone is buying this trash” . After watching him playing, I am like “let’s check our account on coal for a fun ship!!!”. I guess many will be like me and suffer from this one when we actually get it. Love your content !

  16. A lot of times Wikipedia’s using US based sources which often classify ships by how the USA would classify them rather than what the original nation designated them. In the US Tromp almost definitely would have been a destroyer leader and even the description of the intended role is exactly that. I believe that’s why many sources label it a destroyer leader without noting that the home nation designated it a cruiser at the time. Calling it a destroyer leader isn’t wrong, but it needs to be qualified.

  17. When this dev log came out, I was really disappointed that my namesake ship was probably the worst one ever. Now it looks decent, definitely still on the weaker side but worth getting for some coal

  18. I just got it, got 120k my first game, love it. One of the most fun ships I have.

  19. Your reviews have become more honest over time, excellent review

  20. The Dutch called it a Cruiser, the other Allies called it a dd leader.
