The Japanese line is one of the oldest in World of Warships, which begs the question: after nearly five years of release, how do they fare in the modern meta? After re-grinding the British light cruisers for Research Points, I opted to find out for myself how the Imperial Japanese Navy was doing and sold back all my Japanese cruisers.

I’ve talked lots on stream – and in previous Battle Reports – about how good the Japanese heavy cruisers are when they are kiting; that is, when enemies are pushing into them and they are able to angle away while opposing ships drive into the teeth of their powerful torpedo armaments. It’s not always possible to engineer a situation where you can use them in that fashion, however. While re-grinding Tier VI’s here on Crash Zone Alpha, I find myself in the odd position of having nothing to shoot at. ’s turret arrangement actually lends her quite well to making pushes… and so, I go hunting.

Enjoy!
