Well then I’m fast on the draw.
“One phing ohnly pleashe”
“One Ping Only” ahh Capt. Marko Ramius 🙂
From the looks of it, the depth charges seem to have quite a huge radius
Eyeballing it, it looked like the blast radius was almost a kilometer lol
It does seem a bit big but considering how much danger a DD has to put itself in it might balance out. Visually it looks wrong so maybe drop more depth charhes but cover same area or at least a bigger explosion.
@roger Rumble I noticed that as well. It needs to be much harder to get a direct hit. Also, subs need about 2-4x the oxygen reserves. In real life, they could stay submerged for several hours by switching to electric engines. It was not uncommon for them to sneak into a harbor early on, do reconnaissance with the periscope sticking out only a few inches, then leave an hour or so later.(often after delivering troops or supplies covertly). Most harbors wised up quickly and put mines and nets everywhere to stop this.
More like breadth charge amirite?
@subtlewhatssubtle Which is realistic, because the sub eventually has to surface or escape. As it is, it’s WAY too easy for them to deal with a sub and move on. Going after a sub should take you off of convoy protection duty for a couple of minutes, making your allies much more vulnerable until you return. Remember that a sub only contributes to the cap at the end of the game if it is surfaced. So it WILL end up surfaced eventually and honestly, planes eat it for lunch as well.
Im more appalled by the fact that US Submarine torpedoes actually work… I mean working torpedoes should be a researchable upgrade for USN subs.
@lukum55 That is assuming they dont accidentally veer off towards friendlies. Have to mix that historical accuracy with this new heat seeking torp game play.
Let us use the guns!
@Alpha 433 a USS tang that is otherwise pretty good but has a small chance for your torpedo to come back and get you?
If that was in the game, then make the IJN torpedoes have the shortest detection range due to them being wakeless beasts.
Then Japan would be the only nation with super good Torps. Cause every nation in ww2 beside Japan had shitty torps
A bit low on the sound this time Jingles.
Hands up who got the ‘The hunt for the Red October’ reference in the title
it was way too obvious to miss
Those who missed it are too young to play WoWS, anyway…
And should go back to play WoT
I rewatched that movie recently anyway.
I hope they add the Hedgehog on the Brit DDs and CAs
I hope they add the British Shark a special shell fired from Destroyer guns that could hit submerged subs wasn’t ready till late 1944 making it too late for the battle of the Atlantic and then Limbo came into service as well as the reduction in number of guns in post WW2 destroyers and escorts.
then for realism they could add them to T8 or higher RN dds
US Gearing class destroyers also deployed hedgehogs.
“Hole below the waterline we’re flooding quickly” of course there is a hole below the waterline the whole bloody boat is below the waterline gonna tell me next that grass is green?
Grass is greener on the other side.
@Edward Izquierdo Not true, I just looked over the fence and my neighbor’s grass is white, as is mine right now.
Grass is brown on the bottom, thus the landscaper’s call out to their temp help Sod layers- ” green side up”.
Actuly there is two type of floading ..one when there is a hole below the waterline and this is the bad one …the second is above the waterline where it can bad if the sea is rough or just half as bad or not bad at all if the sea is calme which make it easy to control
how do you sink an irish sub?? knock on the door
I see the submarine icons have changed from diamonds to fallen-over-traffic cones.
Yeah they look kinda funny lol. I hope they change them cuz I kept thinking they DDs.
@GameLeader , at the moment, in terms of game play, sub are basically super-stealth destroyers.
“The torpedoes are unguided… oh, dear.” ????
So basicaly you don’t attack enemies, unless:
– They attack you
– They attack your friendly subs
– They don’t have subs to attack.
Sooo…that means you always attack enemies 🙂
He means his focus is not enemy destroyers and that he tries not to go out of his way to attack them
But will he attack an enemy DD if it’s neither an enemy nor a DD? ?
That’s alright Mr. Ryan. My Morse is so rusty I could be sending him dimensions of playmate of the month.
Ramius: *looks stunned*
Gets spotted and torpedoed by torpedo bombers…”I’m not sure what spotted me…”
“They shall tremble again, at the sound of our silence. The order is, engage the silent drive.”
The Hunt for Red October references are what bring me back every time.
“I was spotted by a submarine!” *ignores torpedo bombers.*
Oh jingles never change.
“I’ll only attack destroyers who are hunting my submarines.”
“Or that destroyer who isn’t.”
“I want to get depth-charged!” And every man in the silent service cringed lol.
