The most exciting thing that happened to us this week is that we got a new vacuum cleaner. Yeah, it’s been a slow week.

You really said “Good-day”? Oh well, Good morning
G-day
Gday, this is clickspring!
Last time I was this early Jingles was still a mate lot!
eh those shirts are all M.A.S.H.’d together to me.
Better keep a Hawkeye on it
Could be a trapper.
Dont be a Klinger
What have I done? This has all gone to Potter
@Chupathingy quite Frank-ly, this was the best comment thread ever.
BJ, Trapper and Hawkeye in “The Swamp”. Some of my favourite TV memories.
Also Jingles you may want to try “Destroy All Humans – Remake” I think you’d like it.
And I’m not sure if you or Rita like “Survival/Building games but “Grounded” looks like a lot of fun, particularly if you hate bugs or have Arachnophobia 🙂
Whats so different about the Destroy all humans remake?
“What’s your recipe? 6 to 1?”
“5 to 1 actually – five parts gin and one moment’s silence for the Vermouth.”
M*A*S*H reference detected, I am so happy!
Yep!!
Hotpants Rita
Who else now has the M*A*S*H theme stuck in their head?
@WyreTheWolf just now. Thanks mate 😀
The council of captains approve of your shenanigans 😉
“I’d like a dry martini, Mr. Quoc, a very dry martini. A very dry, arrid, barren, desiccated, veritable dustbowel of a martini. I want a martini that could be declared a disaster area. Mix me just such a martini.”
When I was younger my mum was entered into a competition to win some Castlemaine XXXX (a jacket and some beer) at our local supermarket. She won and when she arrived to pick it up, she thought she won a single crate.
She won 20.
She won a literal pallet of Castlemaine XXXX. Needless to say, we didn’t need to buy lager for a while..
And how did the cleaning of the bathroom/kitchen go? Did it clean to a nice amber shine? 😛
A week? 4 days?
And they Called it “XXXX” because they are Queenslanders and can’t spell “beer”
@Martin Vialle ouch
27:13 “This year feels like its lasted longer than 6 months” – Jingles, 3rd August 2020
Er, it has lasted 7?
@Stephanie Wilson Eight. It’s august now, matey 😉
don’t you love when you pop a little sarcasm and someone takes it serious? and does a world-wide post?
@em1o smurf Sarcasm tends to fail when it isn’t clever or funny
The problem with shortening “half past six” into “half six” is the following: In german for example “half past six” would equal “halb sieben”, meaning half an hour until 7, so 6:30. If you only say “half six” a german person would have to determine wether you are sticking to the english way of telling time or if you are being polite and try to say it the german way of telling time in english, which would mean that “half six”, “halb sechs” actually would mean 5:30.
We use half past / quarter til/past in the US too.
@Samueras- So couldn’t you say “halb nach sechs” to mean 6:30? I remember the quarter hours were spoken “viertel vor sechs” – 5:45, or “viertel nach sechs” – 6:15. But cut me some slack here, as I’m trying to remember this from German classes taken as a teen, and I’m now 62. I never had much chance to practice, and my Deutsch teacher was Austrian, so they may say it differently.
English: It’s half six.
Me: …Three?
Same in Serbian. Half six is 5:30, and six and half is 6:30.
I have no problem with half past six, or quarter to some time, because that is how I learned in English classes, but half six is confusing.
@jefftuckercfii No halp past isn’t a think in Germany. Viertel vor and Viertel nach are correct. But like i said we have more. Viertel sechs. 5:15 and dreiviertel sechs 5:45
Ah, the good old days of gaming. When games came with instruction books that had a dozen blank pages for notes.
And the pirating protection was to find a word in a line of text on page XX in that book.
@BigSwede7403 Or some kind of like mini game such as puzzle wheel, or the stats of a vehicle in the manual
The good old days when equipment you could pick included a Rubber Chicken with a Pulley In the Middle
@Hellberch1 😉 lol
Jingles and Rita are you telling that your old vaccum didn’t suck as mcuh as the new one? have a great one!
Rita must have taken her memory pills, she is remembered things and got the sign off right. WWOOOOTT!!
Oh, core processors are very cool and exciting.
Pour that Hahn down the sink, get yourself a Coopers.
CHOPPERS!!!
@David Burton No it is Incoming Wounded.
Or it could be 5 o’clock Charlie!
Jingles: This years feels like it’s been longer than 6 months.”
Me sipping tea: “That’s because it’s been 7 going on 8 months sir.”
Thank you for the laughs Salt Mine Overlord.
“This year feels like it’s lasted a bit longer than 6 months” says Jingles, using an unfortunately factually accurate statement to try to show how the year of Coronavirus and other problems has dragged by.
“It’s gone really fast for me,” says Rita, apparently thriving on the darkest of modern times.
We love you Rita, but you’re a little scary sometimes. 😉
“Tomato or barbecue” just means: which flavour of sauce do you prefer on your meat or on your pie. It’s a serious matter!
Defo BBQ
So, “Red or brown?” would be the English version.
Fountain bbq on everything except on pies; pies are a bi-saucesual
“Surely you can be serious?”
“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley!”
indeed half zes (half six) as in “halfway to six o’clock” 😉
6.3 basically
