It’s annoying AF, every match there’s subs in ranked for me. They always finish bottom of the team and just serve to annoy and disrupt the match.
The duality of sub complainers:
They’re OP
They’re useless
@@KniteTime TBF it’s easy to explain. Mostly inept and stupid players who don’t understand subs play them. I mean the general skill level of the player base is very low but they’re especially special.
So, the class is balanced around the spreadsheet and these players.
So when a good player, who know the mechanics and how strong the class can be when used correctly is in game. It’s an absolute nightmare to try and counter. There’s not enough counter play, they’ve been made very manurable and hard to hit. I see regular matches where a flank will be abandoned at the start as a sub spawns there.
They’re as bad as CVs for harassing players just trying to play the game.
I’ve played very few games in subs, only really to have a look at how to counter them. I did extremely well in them. They’re very easy to play.

If by “current state” you mean being in the game at all, I agree. It always annoyed me that CVs were playing a completely different game but the introduction of subs made me stop playing after more than 5,000 games.

Unpopular opinion maybe but I think what should’ve happened or should be done is have subs start from tier II BUT they don’t get homing torps till tier X or maybe a very bad version (in terms of homing)starting at tier IX. There would still be the selection for both normal and homing torps for the tier(s). Of course the lower tiers wouldn’t have a whole lot of dive time and wouldn’t be able to go as deep. Standard torpedoes would do a little more damage respectively and a deck gun would be operated by the player rather than as a secondary kinda like the Japanese and British subs. Curious to know what people think about it and if there are any other or better ideas to add on.
Unpopular opinion, subs weren’t OP in the first place and didn’t need to be nerfed. Now they are just completely useless and far underpowered. And no, I’m not a sub player, I’m a DD and BB main.
Let’s be honest. This game has never really been all that realistic. And it’s become more and more arcade like over the years, to the point where the only “realistic” part of the game is how some of the ships look.
